Brisbane City Council has partnered with leading women’s accelerator SBE Australia to enable 10 women to participate in their program.
SBE Australia is proud to announce it is the recipient of Brisbane City Council’s sponsorship program. This sponsorship will enable 10 passionate and driven women founders a place in SBE’s Evolve Program, an eight-week program designed to help women entrepreneurs grow businesses that are sustainable, scalable and importantly, successful.
Selected participants will spend eight weeks learning powerful strategies for taking their business to the next level. They’ll work alongside other female founders at a similar stage of growth and develop their business culminating in the final pitch event. Founders who grow their business through the Evolve program will provide an economic benefit to the city and provide opportunities for employee involvement.
SBE Australia is a not-for-profit organisation who has supported 143 national Evolve graduates and 85 SBE by Springboard Enterprises companies who have successfully raised over $600 million in capital, had 2 IPOS and 9 exits since launching in Australia in 2012.
Kerri Lee Sinclair, Chair of SBE Australia, said this partnership provides further evidence of the changing landscape of women entrepreneurship.

We are excited by this partnership with Brisbane City Council as it will allow us to support more great women entrepreneurs in a wonderful city, like Lauren Hall from Ivvy who joined SBE Australia’s programs in 2014”
Brisbane City Council is focused on the growth of entrepreneurs in this region and this program is one of many initiatives designed to support its city’s entrepreneurs.. The Brisbane Vision states that "the Greater Brisbane economy will grow in value to $217 billion by 2031 and will generate 343,000 additional jobs by 2021 and a further 100,000 jobs by 2031". Women-led founders should play an integral part of this economic growth and SBE has a proven approach to supporting women-led businesses to grow.
Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner said SBE had a proven track-record in supporting women-led businesses to grow and achieve success in Australia.
“We are proud to support initiatives like SBE’s Evolve Program that actively works to create, grow and nurture Brisbane’s female-led small businesses,” Cr Schrinner said.
“Brisbane is poised to generate and support hundreds of thousands of jobs over the next decade and working together and inclusively is how we can get through the coronavirus pandemic and get our economy back on track for the future.
“Brisbane’s thriving small business community underpins the economic growth of our city and its programs like these that help set Brisbane small businesses apart by positioning them for success through skills, training and jobs.”
